Application documents for Non-Resident students for school year 2017-18 will be accepted March 1 – April 28, 2017, only for schools and grade levels where openings are available and only if the student meets all application criteria. The criteria for acceptance are outlined in the attached documents and in the Application for Admission of Non-Resident Students.
April 28, 2017, is the deadline for Non-Resident Student applications for school year 2017-18 in South Madison Community School Corporation. Applications received after deadline will be considered only through August 31, 2017, if space is available and if the applicant meets all criteria and can be enrolled prior to count day.
Criteria for enrollment comply with Indiana law, HEA 1381-P.L.281-2013. An applicant who meets criteria must be enrolled and attending school before the Indiana Department of Education ADM count day.
If requests for a school/grade level exceed the number of available openings, a lottery will be conducted May 4, 2017, to determine who is accepted for enrollment. Parents/Guardians will be notified by May 12, 2017, of acceptance and enrollment procedures.
An incomplete application will not be considered. Be sure to include all requested documents with the completed and signed application and the Consent for Release of School Records form.
Parents of children entering kindergarten should submit the Non-Resident Student application in March 2017 so they will receive the documentation needed for attending Kindergarten Round-Up on April 4 (East Elementary), April 5 (Pendleton Elementary Primary), or April 6 (Maple Ridge Elementary). The child must be five-years-old by August 1, 2017, to enroll in kindergarten in 2017-18.
